Christian Heritage and Architecture – WALKING TOUR Jerusalem
The Mount of Olives, located between the Judean Desert and the Holy City, is one of the major sites for Christianity: from where Jesus arrived to Jerusalem, to where he predicted the destruction of Jerusalem, to where was arrested the night before his crucifixion and finally to the place he was believed to have ascended to the sky. Join us at our Jerusalem Tour through history.
Throughout history, from the early stages of Christianity, from the age of the crusaders until the 20th century, memorial churches and monasteries have been built on the sides of the Mount as well as along the Via Dolorosa to pay tribute to these events. The architecture and design of some of these sites were inspired by the Italian monk and architect Antonio Barluzzi. The tour will take you from the Ascension church on top of the mount down to the Gethsemane church and then to the Via Dolorosa within the old city focusing on the Holy Sepulcher.
