Ziad Sawaid – WESTERN GALILEE

Ziad is your Bedouin host in the town of Salama in the Western Galilee. He will welcome you in his big and colorful tent – his home, his family. Playing his drum, he will introduce you to the story of the Bedouin people and their tradition. You may also want to enjoy a great lunch including fresh herbs, humus and labaneh cheese. And as a treat Ziad will tell you about the secrets of  coffee making.

Zacki Halevi -UPPER GALILEE

Meet the musician Zacki Halevi who lives in the Galilee, the beautiful northern region of Israel. Zacki believes, that the only way to have a meaningful visit in Israel is to take it very personally.  Zaki plays a wide variety of unique musical instruments (Persian Santur, Frame drums, Didjerido and Harmonica) and invites you to join his musical tours. With a wealth of knowledge and a love of people and their cultures, his musical trails in the Galilee combine fascinating history and a true musical experience.

 

Bilal Abu Khalaf – OLD CITY JERUSALEM

Bilal is a wellkown textile merchant in the Old City of Jerusalem who imports cotton, silk and gold cloths from Syria and India. His beautiful and unique fabrics are used for curtains, cushions, furniture and more. Among Bilal’s clients are Christian priests, Muslim imams and ultra-Orthodox Jews. Visitors are always welcome at Bilal’s shop who welcomes guests from around the world and tells his story and that of his father and grandfather who started the business of trading these precious fabrics from Syria and India. Bilal Abu-Khalaf confessed to us, “The Old City is in my blood. I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else. ”

 

Brother Oilivier – ABU GOSH

How did a French Benedictine monk come to live in an Arab village near Jerusalem and pair together with a Jewish policeman to perform choir recitals? That’s what you may discover upon meeting him in his church and getting to know the fabulous stories of this man, beginning with the break-up with his girlfriend at a young age to his present position as a monk and “standup” actor in the mood, telling his fabulous Israeli experiences and stories.

Doris – JAFFA

Looking out at the blue Mediterranean, in her home nearby her small, family run shop, Doris tells her story, what it meant to grow up in a conservative Christian-Arab family and the twist it gave to her life. Now a confident entrepreneur, Doris, mother of two, lives in Ajami’s neighborhood in the ancient town of Jaffa. She and her husband keep the old family business of selling homemade coffee. Recently, Doris expanded this traditional business into a tour and open-house visit where, while telling us more about her life between tradition and emancipation, she offers us homemade black coffee, baklavas and other oriental specialties.

Maoz and Dorit – PORT OF ACRE

Dorit and Maoz are known for their outstanding hospitality. Maoz who has a life time experience at sea, including his service in the Marine corps of the IDF. Together with his wife Dorit they invite you to join a cruise in the beautiful blue bay lying in midst the modern city of Haifa and the ancient port of Acre. Our favorite time is starting the cruise in the afternoon and ending the day with a colorful sunset while zipping local wine  and enjoying home made tapas made from chosen products of the Galilee.
